The World of Blogs

Internet safety is a concern for all teachers. Sitting alone at a computer gives a sense that the internet lends itself to anonymity. Unfortunately, this isn't true. It's important to "google" your name every once in awhile to see what pops up. Do this for webpages as well as images. When creating your blogs, make sure to not include your Castleton email address or any other identifying information. In class we'll know your true identity, make sure to protect it online.

Blogs are an online journal.  The typical blog shows the most recent post first.  There are many different platforms to create a blog, blogger is well established and part of the Google ecosystem.  Blog posts can be edited and deleted and therefore are not permanent records.

How to link to a web address

Hi Students,
Some eager beavers wanted to know how to create weblinks within their blogs....
Remember to be using Firefox as your web browser. When composing a post, the tools for bold, italics, changing fonts and font colors, adding a photo and a link are at the top of the box where you add text. Type in the text you want the link to be, highlight it, then click on the link icon. type in the web address (or copy and paste) and viola! Instant web link.
The pop up box for the web address already includes http://, so make sure you don't add it in again.
Check your links!
